Bracebridge — Councillor — Monck/Muskoka Ward / Ward 2
1. What actions have you personally taken to support a greener, more sustainable climate?
The need to control and manage our climate action privately, locally, provincially, and throughout all regions of Canada is more important today than it ever was. Personally I have always valued recycling household items, using reusable containers for drinking and generally promoting and educating the need to take care of our world. Granted, these are small contributions in the big picture, but every little bit helps.
2. What opportunities for climate leadership at the municipal level (e.g. greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs)) would you champion in one or more of these areas: Buildings | Housing | Land use (sprawl) | Transportation | Other
If elected to Council I will dig in deep on all the options at our disposal to lessen the footprint in whatever we are proposing or planning. We only have one world and we are at a point of no return if we don’t continue to act responsible. I understand that Bracebridge has declared a climate emergency and I am very interested in learning more about this action and to make sure it continues to move forward.
3. A long-term problem requires a long-term solution. What is your 100-year plan? If elected, what would be your first action?
A good 100 year plan would be a continued push on educating people on the issues we face daily on environment issues. Education is power. I know it is critical for decision makers in all levels of government to understand and believe in what needs to be championed for years to come. My plan is to stop in at one of your climate strikes to talk more.
